What is EVOLVE™:
EVOLVE™ is a laser-technique therapy developed for otolaryngological purposes by the German company biolitec®. High-energy diode laser, Leonardo is capable of removing or evaporating tissues (cutting, vaporization). In otolaryngology, diode lasers are used mainly in procedures where the tissues are generously perfused with blood, for example nose or tonsils.
During the surgery, diode laser Leonardo cuts though the tissue, and simultaneously coagulates blood vessels preventing blood from flooding the operating field. It is often referred to as “bloodless scalpel”.
Advantages of the therapy:
- High precision of the operation – lack of perioperative damage of tissues.
- Fast healing and fast recovery to wellness.
- In matter of fact, the possibility of infection during the procedure is close to zero with minimal risk of bleeding postoperatively.
Who can undergo the procedure?
There is no age limit. Procedure can be performed in adult patients and children (including newborns)
Is the procedure performed under anesthesia?
Two different types of anesthesia can be used, local and general anesthesia. The type of anesthesia used depends on doctor`s assessment. General anesthesia is typically used in case of small children.
The procedure process:
The duration and the course of the procedure depend on the character of the pathological changes. A whole procedure of palatoplasty takes around 20 minutes, while tonsillectomy can last up to 45 minutes.
Is the procedure safe?
Laser procedures have been routinely performed in otolaryngology for the part 20 years. Countless clinical research has proven that the procedure is safe, and a gold standard in many cases.
